Many years ago people used to offer food as a ‘gift’. All they gave visitors or people they met was what they have worked very hard to produce themselves; and the products were all perishable, as the 'gift' had to be consumed and appreciated rather than have a monetary value or a potential for profit and interest.
These are some of the gifts I gave my family and friends. The recipes are all below and they are simple traditional recipes, prone to interpretation and addition of various ingredients and flavours which I encourage everyone to try doing. Baking, cooking and sharing that energy with people we love, should be a more frequent encounter in our everyday lives.
