About

Currently exploring the ecology of our immediate surroundings with reference to wild plants that inhabit our domestic and social environments, Gabi's practice explores practical research into mindfulness, being present in a given space as an occupier and subsequently effector of the world we are living in.

With a long-term interest in collaborative practices, Gabi has undertaken multiple extensive projects engaging both with other visual artists as well as the audience. Gabi’s practice continues to investigate the domestic in relation to class and gender issues. Recent collaborative work - Drawing Dialogue - investigates the notion of ownership in visual arts and its role to developing new creative ideas. Gabi’s practice is multidisciplinary and project based, exploring visual and material possibilities in given environments.

Working as an educator for the past 20 years, Gabi Boiangiu is passionate about working with people/students who are at the beginning of their fine art journey. Working as a senior lecturer at LAU since 2021, has been insightful and exciting; primarily leading on the first year of the delivery, this has enabled Gabi to support students with their transition from FE to HE.

Romanian/British artist, Gabi Boiangiu studied at the Arts University, Bucharest before moving to the UK to do her Master Degree in Printmaking at Bradford School of Art and Design (2000). Gabi has been teaching both in FE and HE since 2003 and graduated the PGCE at University of Huddersfield in 2007.
