During Gabi's last year of study in Bucharest and then while studying at Bradford College, her face was used as a canvas for performances and workshops. Drawing and painting onto the face in order to change the obvious facial features into something that the viewer might want to explore and project.
This project came to life from an interest in the way people surrounding us perceive  who we are. The perception of people’s identity is strongly linked with our own expectations that are projected onto the other person’s visual appearance.
Several self identity workshops were organised. Gabi Boiangiu worked onto her own face, as well as organising workshops in which the audience took their turn in changing the apparent identity of the artist’s face. Many different facets were discovered and explored, generating further discussions and the potential for further investigation.
